Many people know me as the Marketing and Communications Director at Landlord Web Solutions, but what few realize is that I also have an extensive background in graphic design.
During my 5-year employment at Skyline, I was responsible for satisfying all of their graphic design needs. I designed everything from promotional material, to signage, to online graphics. In fact, my graphical and creative contributions helped them to win the FRPO award for corporate branding in 2009. With this experience behind me, it was just a matter of time before I started to put my design talents to use creating websites.
Things have certainly been busy here around the office, and we’ve been receiving an influx of rental and mobile website orders. The increase in business is great, but it makes it hard for David – our Creative Director – to keep up with the growing demand for our product. That’s where I come in. My designs will help take some of the creative burden off of Dave’s shoulders, and it will allow us to maintain our quick development timelines.
Designing a website is a little different from designing a typical flyer. To be successful at it you need to be able to think ahead and consider things like: SEO, the overall navigation of the site, the overall design and the usability of the website. David’s advice has been invaluable and he has shown me the intricacies of website development.
David’s a great designer! One of my favourite designs that he has done is the website www.landlordwebcon.ca. It's the conference site for Landlord Web Con 2011, an Internet marketing and technology event for landlords. David did an amazing job on this site! Its design is stylish, trendy and techie.
A mobile friendly version of the site is also up and running for all of you landlords out there who are on the move.
